In the west I always had waterproof clothing. I do not need to explain the reasons why but if you ride all year round they are essential. Here in the Philippines it is not such a straight forward decision. It can rain a great deal however it is never cold. Humidity is always high and I have found that if I don a set of waterproofs I end up just as wet as I would have been if I had not bothered. The reason of course is that I sweat a great deal, and by sweat I really mean sweat, your clothes can be soaking. Now, given a choice I would rather be wet with fresh rainwater than salty secretions. Also, because it is so warm I find that my wet clothes will dry quickly if I am not wearing waterproofs whereas I will stay wet if I am wearing my proofs. Suffice to say, my waterproofs have remained in the wardrobe for the last several years.

No argument here mate! :-)
When I first got on two wheels ( scooters like any good little mod) it didn't worry me at all, I was quite used to falling off anyway but I'm over that sort of thing these days
In the first 30 months on scooters I fell off on average once a month.....
Eventually did it properly and split my left leg lower bone ( tibia?) straight up the middle
I already had a bike by then and just never went back to scooters, evil bastard Ill handling underbraked pieces of sh1t
I know what you mean about fcukwits but sometimes I have to ride in the wet and to be honest I have always enjoyed riding in the wet as it requires such total concentration
while i do have waterproof stuff, if i know its going to rain the bike keys won't be in my hand
theres just too many fcukwits on the roads here to feel even vaguely safe and the power characteristics of the vmax make it a true liabilty in the wet
i've never ridden on modern radial tyres either wet or dry for more than a few miles so it may be a revelation when the zzr gets on the road, i'll probably still avoid doing it on purpose but its inevitable at some point
