g'day, new to the forum, been riding for close on 40 years and just scored me a 92 zzr1100c ( in pieces but getting back together)
i've got an 88 Vmax which has copped all the usual modifications, hayabusa brakes, seat, supertrapp exhaust, lights ( that actually light stuff up), forward controls etc
had it for well over 10 years and so far have only blown up one motor
i got the zzr as a swap for an old sohc 750 honda and when i got it it had had a new crank, bearings and one piston/rod installed. the owner , who i know from honda 4 websites, had lost interest, pretty much the same as i had with my honda, which was being transformed into a trail bike
the motor was nearly back together, needed brakes, fork seals, body repairs, tyres and a good cleanup
i've finished the motor , new brake pads, wheel bearings, fork seals, tyres ( shinko's), cleaning, greasing and painting as i go
it's had new brake / clutch lines and levers ( in green naturally)
motors back in the frame ( no-one told me to attach all the oil lines BEFORE doing that...) so at the moment i've had to take the oil cooler, radiator and exhaust back off to get to all the oil lines and had to wait until new sealing washers turned up so that should be sorted soon enough
next main job is the bodywork , every panel had some damage so i've repaired them all from the inside, got to sand down and fill from the outside then paint, which will probably be satin black with kawasaki green logos, still not entirely sure where all the bits go but i'll work it out. i've never had a fairing'd bike before so its a bit of a learning curve
i have no idea if i'm even going to fit on the bike ( i'm 6'5" and as homer says 'a husky gentleman' but i've always wanted a zzr since reading about the lunacy years ago in Performance Bikes, so when the chance came up i couldn't say no ( and surprisingly mrs spotty didn't say no for me)
if i do keep it then bigger brakes are a sure bet, even if i have to rob them off the vmax and put the gsxr calipers back on that
i shall get some pics up when i get home as they're all on my phone and i'm using a work computer to do this
cheers, spotty
How is it going mate?
