obviously i don't have a whole load of experience with these bikes but maybe check the spark plugs, connection of ht leads to coils, and maybe check the fuel tank vent isn't blocked ?

This weekend the job ahead is the throttle cables, I was at them for a couple of hours last week and they still won't return I shall persevere

When I first got on two wheels ( scooters like any good little mod) it didn't worry me at all, I was quite used to falling off anyway but I'm over that sort of thing these days In the first 30 months on scooters I fell off on average once a month..... Eventually did it properly and split my left leg lower bone ( tibia?) straight up the middle I already had a bike by then and just never went back to scooters, evil bastard Ill handling underbraked pieces of sh1t

the first truly fast bike i rode was an 86 GSXR750, it blew my tiny little mind, i'd only just graduated from scooters onto 250's and then a GS750, but that gsxr..... i took it for a ride out of my friends bike shop and ended up heading for the freeway ( as you do) and on the way there ended up on a slip road alongside a main road, looked over my shoulder and saw i needed to get a move on if i was going to beat traffic to the end of the slip road and merge i gave it a bit of a handful of throttle, up went the front wheel and i steered it out of the slip lane on the back wheel...brown trousers very nearly but felt well proud of myself for that one turned onto the freeway and really hammered it, got up well into the high end of just below 200kmh and then it started tank slapping, much closer to brown trousers that time managed to keep it upright ( no idea how) and rode back to the shop at a far more gentle pace the only other bike i've ridden that did anything like that was a moto martin GSX11 a friend bought, it wheel stood, spun the back wheel and steered across tram tracks uphill all at the same time. i still yearn for that bike. he sold it years later and told me i couldn't afford it....then told me later he'd only got $4K for it, dickhead, i would have sold the Vmax and paid him more than that

while i do have waterproof stuff, if i know its going to rain the bike keys won't be in my hand theres just too many fcukwits on the roads here to feel even vaguely safe and the power characteristics of the vmax make it a true liabilty in the wet i've never ridden on modern radial tyres either wet or dry for more than a few miles so it may be a revelation when the zzr gets on the road, i'll probably still avoid doing it on purpose but its inevitable at some point

indeed, wear appropriate gear for the conditions and your intended activity in summer here i still never go below kevlar jeans, bike boots , decent gloves and a magnesium back protector/kidney belt under maybe a denim jacket though more usually a leather one most times however i go for leather race pants and jacket ( haven't got a one piece yet) or if its cold i have a choice of 3 different levels of warm/waterproof jacket all my jackets have full armour and i've upgraded a lot of them to higher quality armour than they came with helmets are always full face with tinted visor ( essential for summer, not too much of a problem in winter) and usually matt black ( not always so good in blistering hot sun...) when i think back to some of the stuff we used to ride in, all in the name of fashion, it scares the crap out of me, mind you i've never gone as far as thongs ( flip flops that is , not a mankini..)

I have checked the rad hoses and they look ok but the plan is to get silicon hoses anyway The fuel lines aren't an issue yet, gotta get the tank sorted first

From the Speedo, over 100K.... But the only thing that hasn't been gone over is the rear shock so it should be ok The only this I really need is a new tank, mine has a few more holes than Mr Kawasaki originally intended and is lined with a thick coating of sludge Keeping my eyes open for one but at worst I will cut it open and redo thr underneath in new metal I bought another headlight and some bodywork but mostly I've just used what I got with the bike

1988, the earlier model with the skinny forks and crap forks, at least I've fixed the brakes I started off putting R1 discs with 4 pot calipers with the stock m/C and ended up going for 6 pot Hayabusa calipers and m/C. It's hard to believe the difference it made, putting a radial tyre on the front made it better again

Which of course makes it a right pain finding parts, most of which are completely different between the two
